Howard Smith
Superintendent
Howard Smith
Superintendent
While Howard technically isn’t a true Austinite, he might as well be. He spent the first seven years of his life less than 50 miles north of Austin in Schwertner, TX until his family made the move to the capital city. Howard loves all things Austin – the Longhorns, year-round golfing weather, and Tex-Mex.
Howard has always loved creating things with his hands – from bookcases to coffee tables to headboards – so a career as a hands-on superintendent was a natural fit for him. He started work as a foreman for a local drywall company in 1976 and quickly took on an additional role doing the millwork on several projects. In 1994, after completing several successful projects for Richard, he joined The Kidd Group, Galbraith Construction at that time. Howard has been with The Kidd Group for over two decades and is the head superintendent overseeing all of the subcontractors. His passion is working on the construction site, managing projects from beginning to end, and making sure they are completed with the highest quality and on time. You will often find Howard with a drill in his hand putting the final touches on a project.
When Howard is not on the jobsite, he enjoys golfing, watching college football, and spending time with his family, often making his daughter’s favorite enchilada recipe. He and his family also support The Christi Center, a local nonprofit that provides grief support for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
